More companies hiring senior-level temp workers

According to financial job site FINS, temporary staffing usually crops up during the early part of an economic recovery. However, during this most recent restoration, more jobs are opening up at senior levels.

"The companies we work with don't want to hire people full-time, even in C-level positions," Don Murray, chief executive officer of recruiting firm Resources Global, told the news source. "In an uncertain economy, employers don't want to commit."

Even high-level temps are paid hourly by the staffing firms themselves, and they still make more than enough to earn a living. The media source points out that Resource Global employees earn an average of $60 per hour – or $120,000 per year – based on a 40-hour work week.

Additionally, some staffing firms also pay employee benefits not normally associated with temp jobs, such as 401K plans, stock options, training and paid vacation.

The media outlet notes that demand for temporary workers is expected to continue increasing. Revenues for all levels are predicted to rise by 10 to 12 percent in 2011, and 6 to 8 percent in 2012.

KNVX-TV adds that since society often defines us by the work we do, being unemployed can be a burden to one's self-esteem. A temporary assignment can restore self-confidence and provide the necessary experience to land a full-time position in the future.
