How going social can benefit employee recruitment efforts

Facebook can be a powerful employee recruiting tool for HR administration, and the new Timeline update that's currently being rolled out by the social network will make paid candidate advertising more effective, according to Staffing Talk.

"Unlike the traditional Facebook layout that is basically a top to bottom view of your activity, Timeline makes your friends dart left-to-right to follow a sequence, an unnatural flow meant to push the viewer into a more cognitive state," the news source explains.

This means ads at the side of the page that were previously overlooked by Facebook members focusing on the central area of the screen are set to become a more integrated part of a user's experience.

A recent ERE.net article noted that the rise of social networking sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn are making employee recruitment easier by the month. Instead of building databases and constructing talent pools, recruiters can now peruse internet forums and communities looking for potential candidates, as well as tapping their professional contacts for online referrals.
