Returning to the job market with a flexible position has become a common choice for those who have spent long periods of time unemployed.

The Wall Street Journal reports that over the past several months, employment of temporary workers is between 11 and 12.5 percent higher than earlier 2011 levels, according to the American Staffing Association.

Companies such as Aurora, Colorado-based staffing agency "10 to 2" place candidates in temp jobs that require 30 hours a week or less in areas such as finance, marketing and sales. In addition, Mom Corps in Atlanta, Georgia, places its prospects in part-time, contract or stay-at-home positions.

A growing number of young professionals are choosing to work from home, and job sites such as FlexJobs.com makes the transition easier with daily job listings and flexible positions from over 1,800 companies across the United States.

FlexJobs will offer gift certificates to recent college graduates through its website, with subscription packages to supply young adults with resources such as skill testing, resume writing and cover letter writing.

The job service also provides young job hunters with protection from too-good-to-be-true scam jobs, as well as customer service.
