Review customer testimonials when hiring an outsourcing firm

Business owners may be hesitant to hire full-time employees to take on back office support tasks, such as payroll, human resources or marketing, especially in a recovering economy.

Instead, many entrepreneurs and employers look to human resources or payroll outsourcing services to ensure the job gets done right. However, where should individuals begin when looking to hire an outsourcing service?

First, business owners may want to begin by asking around to see who colleagues and competitors are using and whether the experience has been good.

"Look at testimonials if you can and see whether other people recommend them," author Dave Thomas writes for the website Resource Nation. "If you are looking at businesses then you may be able to find online reviews about them. These will give you a good idea of whether the company is reliable and professional."

Outsourcing may grow increasingly popular as small businesses remain unconfident in the state of the economy. In fact, the unemployment rate rose again in June, hitting 9.2 percent, indicating owners aren't hiring.
