Ninety-nine percent of all temporary workers who want a full-time job will get one, according to a study by the American Staffing Association. In fact, most of the temps who join an employer of record or similar staffing company want to have a permanent position within a company, according to the survey, so this is great news. Additionally, nine out of every 10 temps think their staffing company is satisfactory, while 74 percent find their company to be very or extremely satisfying.

The choice becomes clear, then, for those who are having trouble finding work in the current economy. By taking up the mantle of a temporary worker, those fresh out of college who need jobs the most can get them 99 percent of the time, according to the survey.

"The results of the landmark 2014 ASA Staffing Employee Survey verify that temporary and contract work is an effective bridge to permanent employment," said Richard Wahlquist, ASA president and chief executive officer. "ASA member companies are proud to make a real difference in the lives of so many individuals in the U.S. workforce."

Companies are hiring
Adding to the good news that temps who need work are almost always getting it is a report by American Express, which found that 81 percent of middle-market companies want to hire. This furthers the opportunities for many temps. It also points to the great business sense that hiring a temp makes for a company. Temporary workers are less expensive than regular workers. They don't bear as much of a burden on the HR department because their payroll and insurance is handled by the employer of record. Additionally, they are dependable, and at the same time, companies can grow and shrink their numbers very easily to cope with demand and supply.

The reasons for most companies' choices to hire are expansion, seasonal help and finding the right candidate, according to the survey. These are all areas a temp could fill. Temps can help for a season, and they can assist with expansion. Additionally, they can also be used as a pool of candidates to choose from for exactly the right match.
