Despite a high national unemployment rate, firms that deal with outsourced human resources tasks such as placing temporary employees are reporting difficulty finding skilled workers.
In Florida, for example, firms that specialize in information technology, aerospace, manufacturing and other sectors are finding applicants with the necessary skills and knowledge are scarce, the Sun-Sentinel reports.
One firm, IT infrastructure consultancy Champion Solutions Group, tells the source that a position for a "data management consultant" has been open since March and, at this point, has probably expired on internet job boards.
"It's difficult to hear when we have over 900,000 people unemployed that we have employers who can't find the workers they need," Rebecca Rust, chief economist for Florida's Agency for Workforce Innovation in Tallahassee, explains to the Sentinel.
The inability to find the right job applicants isn't limited to Florida, however. A recent survey from ManpowerGroup reported that 52 percent of businesses across the country are having trouble hiring qualified individuals.
