Contract worker employment set to increase in Chicago

As more businesses stay hesitant to bring on new permanent employees, many are turning to staffing firms to keep up with industry demands. One of the largest privately-owned staffing agencies for temporary workers has recognized this need and has expanded into the Chicago market.

Express Employment Professionals recently added two locations in the largest city in Illinois, expecting the needs within the staffing industry to double within the next 10 years, according to the Chicago Tribune. Last year, the agency employed 12,789 people in the state and almost 367,000 worldwide.

Each new worker is evaluated before being placed in either short- or long-term assignments and according to Patrick Dolan, corporate developer for the company in Chicago, almost half of their staff are eventually hired by the clients who employ them.

"We recognize the need to open new offices to meet the demand for both employers and those looking for work," Dolan told the newspaper. "As our footprint grows in Chicago, we will be able to help more job seekers get their foot in the door at a growing company. We know the job market continues to struggle, but companies are hiring."
