Mobile device use is on the rise throughout the country and many individuals are turning to their smartphone or tablet to conduct their job search. HR administrations looking to improve their talent acquisition process should consider including mobile recruitment in their headhunting strategy.

A study by HireRabbit, a career site creation company, found 14.53 percent of all website views came from a portable device in April 2013. From 2011 to 2012, website traffic from a smartphone increased 103 percent and the report projects mobile internet use will exceed web accessed through a computer by 2014.

App use is on the rise as well, with 73 percent of smartphone owners citing they utilize apps to connect to their social network at least once a day. Eighty-six percent cited they used their smartphone during their job search.

Despite the growing popularity of mobile internet usage, the study found only 13 percent of Fortune 500 companies have a recruitment strategy that includes mobile.

As more jobseekers reach for their smartphone or tablet during their job hunt, recruiters should remember to invest in a mobile recruitment. Whether HR professionals post positions on online job boards with an app or simply ensuring the company website is mobile optimized, human resource departments can boost recruitment.
