Randstad recently released a report predicting that the top employment skills for 2011 will include applications development, as well as data center design and management.

The report aims to identify what will be the fastest-growing employment sectors and the skills that will be in demand in Australia. The financial services and IT consulting sectors have experienced strong developments, leading to an increased demand for skills relevant to those industries.

These industries are also booming in the U.S. The National Association of Colleges and Employers 2011 Job Outlook Survey shows that the U.S. IT industry is well-positioned for substantial growth along with other technology segments, including engineering and computer science.

The top four technology skills are expected to be Systems Applications and Products, data warehousing, applications development and data center management, according to Randstad's forecast.

Randstad predicts that IT contracting will be strong this year. As the business segment takes on new projects and the economic recovery continues, many will be looking for IT contract workers with the expertise needed to finish projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner. According to a survey conducted by Regus, 32 percent of businesses plan to increase hiring this year.
