Sales Manager

The Sales Manager will generate revenue for the company by developing new account opportunities including prospecting for clients, developing new relationships, securing business to achieve growth, increasing revenue with our existing client base and providing excellent customer service.  This role will manage the sales team and overseeing the sales pipeline.


Our corporate office is in San Diego, California.  This position will work remotely and is open to candidates nationwide.


Essential Functions

  • Leads the organization’s mid-sized sales market strategy.
  • Drives leads and maintains individual sales quota to meet annual sales goal.
  • Forecasts anticipated market sales, sets sales quotas, and collaborates with VP, Business Development to set sales goals, compare performance to goals and adjust goals as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements across the sales team and makes recommendations to management for streamlining processes.
  • Properly prepares internal teams for effective new account onboarding and handoff, including creation and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  • Hires, develops and oversees performance of the sales team focused on the mid-sized target market.
  • Develops individual quotas and assigns verticals for team members.
  • Coaches, mentors and provides feedback to team members.
  • Fosters a competitive, yet collaborative, team environment.
  • Assesses individual performance through observation and measurement and suggests corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides compelling messaging and approaches in collaboration with marketing to drive lead generation.
  • Provides value-added client and industry knowledge to prospects and clients within a consultative selling framework and delivers tailored solutions. Focuses on building relationships due to long sales cycle for potential buyers of contingent workforce solutions.
  • Cultivates and maintains valuable relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Responsible for preparing, negotiating and revising service agreements and collaborating with Corporate Counsel to mitigate risk issues.
  • Serves as an expert on our services with the ability to effectively present our organization to prospective, new or existing clients.
  • Represents organization at conferences, within local and national industry groups, and networking events to promote services and build IES presence in the community.


Preferred Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in business to business account management and consultative selling.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in managing a sales team
  • Certified Contingent Workforce Professional (CCWP) preferred.
  • CRM knowledge to use as a documentation tool and to measure KPIs.
  • Previous experience in staffing industry, contingent workforce/gig economy and contract service is preferred, including experience in using VMS technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Confident presenting to all levels of an organization and at industry events.
  • Client centered mentality and passion for customer service.
  • Ability to relate to a variety of people and sustain meaningful relationships.
  • Ability to anticipate client needs and take initiative to satisfy them.
  • Ability to work in a face-paced environment and maintain a sense of urgency.
