As a member of the IES Corporate HR Team, the HR Generalist is responsible for the execution and delivery of regulatory compliance and employee relations services such as conflict resolution, employee grievances and investigations.  Additionally, this role will manage data driven HR projects to create process improvement and offer recommendations for the team and organization.  The position maintains HR data quality and requires juggling many projects with the needs of many individuals.

Our corporate office is in San Diego, California.  This position will work remotely and is open to candidates nationwide.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partners with multiple internal and external vendors to ensure compliant programs for ACA, 401k, employee training, minimum wage audits and benefits administration.
  • Administers the IES Compliance Training program for all employees.
  • Owns, designs and conducts thorough audit reviews of HR operational processes utilizing various testing methods to detect compliance.
  • Conducts regular minimum wage audits and communicates any changes to Operations Team.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Counsels managers and employees consistent with company policies/practices, legal considerations, and helps to facilitate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Advises managers and supervisors on common employee relations issues or problems involving such concerns as disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, ethical questions, grievances, and/or routine leave or attendance questions or disputes.
  • Manages project and process improvement for the corporate HR team and the organization requiring complex collaboration with cross functional teams while considering the needs of our external employees and clients.
  • Stays abreast of legislation and state or local requirements for compliance.
  • Serves as a cultural champion and supports the mission, vision and core values of the organization.

  • Communicates with co-workers, management, customers, vendors and others in a courteous and professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and/or AA Degree in Business, Human Resources and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 1 year+ experience in employee relations.
  • SHRM or PHR certification preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of employment laws and practices. Staffing or experience advising on issues related to co-employment preferred.
  • HRIS experience, with an emphasis on reporting and analyzing data.  SQL experience is a plus.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Able to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
