The awards, which took place at the San Diego Doubletree Hotel, recognized outstanding San Diego employers in the small, medium, and large business categories. IES was one of 50 finalists highlighted at the event, and received special recognition as one of the Top 5 Workplaces in San diego within the Small Business category. Award presenters highlighted IES' exceptional employee benefits, citing forward-thinking initiatives that encourage employee wellness and help maintain a healthy work-life balance. Among the IES HR policies lauded were the company's fitness programs, flexible schedule options, and education reimbursement policies.
The award criteria consisted of a two-part process, the first of which was an evaluation of the nominees' HR policies, employee benefits, retention rate, and corporate culture. The second part of the process consisted of companywide surveys conducted by the Best Companies Group, in which employees were asked to anonymously rate their employers on factors such as benefits, compensation, employee recognition and appreciation, and more.
In addition to receiving this year's Family-Owned & Closely-Held Business Award, IES has also been ranked among San Diego's top women-owned and top family-owned businesses. In previous years the company also received recognition as one of San Diego's fastest growing privately-held companies.
